The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Qatar Chapter conducted the Induction Ceremony of 2022
Officers and Board of Directors at the Dusit d2, Salwa Doha last Friday, February 18, 2022.
The occasion was attended virtually by PICE National President Ador G. Canlas as the Keynote Speaker,
National President-Elect April Frances Agatha G. Flores who gives her Inspirational Message, and Philippine
Embassy to Qatar, 3rd Secretary, and Vice Consul Hon. Monica Remsy S. Calañgian who herself represents
the Ambassador and was also attended physically by POLO Qatar Carolina L. Ortiz the OIC in the absence of
the Labor Attaché Hon. Adam A. Musa. Pres Canlas in his speech lauded PICE Qatar Chapter in achieving
another milestone being the recipient of 2021 Commission on Filipino Overseas Presidential Award for
“Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL), one of the seven awardees from 117 nominees from 31 countries.
Engr. Ronaldo Nilo, a member of the chapter is also the recipient of Pamana ng Pilipino Award and continued
his speech by sharing the years goals and plans of the current leadership.
The charging officer was PICE Qatar Chapter’s Founding President, Engr. Roy L. Baquiran, who led the
induction of the 2022 PICE Qatar leadership, namely: Engr. Rolan E. Nevado (President), Engr. Elvin D.
Fajutagana (First Vice President), Engr. Loraine C. Radan (Second Vice President), Engr. Joseph Marius R.
Macaraig (Secretary), Engr. Aushford O. Acera (Treasurer), Engr. Belinda E. Dela Cruz (Auditor), Engr.
Rosendo B. Berja Jr. (Business Manager), Engr. Maria Michelle A. Revillosa (Public Relations Officer), and
Engr. Victoriano P. Bago Jr. (Sergeant-At-Arms). Other inductees were committee chairpersons Engr. Marian
M. Ocampo (Membership), Engr. Emmanuel German V. Boceta (PICE Qatar Affairs), Engr. Alnovar S.
Abubakar (Ways and Means), Engr. Marie Joy E. Reyes (Honors & Special Professional Licensure
Examinations), Engr. Angelo D. Eda (Continuing Professional Advancement), and Engr. Danilo L. Chan
(Publications and Information).
Highlighting the ceremony was the exaugural speech and handing over of the gavel and the PICE Qatar
President banner, as the symbolic handover of leadership, by outgoing chapter president Engr. Mark
Anthony P. Abendan to the incoming chapter president Engr. Rolan E. Nevado. Awarded last year by PICE
National as the most outstanding international chapter president for 2021, Engr. Abendan was bestowed
with a Distinguished Service Award for his exemplary leadership by the current BOD while Engr. Nevado gave
his inaugural message by presenting the chapter’s target plans and activities which the chapter aims to
accomplish under the ‘new normal’.
Active committee members were recognized during the event for their contribution to the success of PICE
Qatar in the year 2021. The new members took their oath taking as well as the 2022 committees.
PICE Qatar Chapter was recognized during 2021 National Convention last 27 November 2021 as the Most
Outstanding International Chapter for its fourth consecutive year coupled with the Most Outstanding
Community Project and Most Outstanding Newsletter for fifth consecutive years since 2017.
